Rising Boy Band – In Real Life
“In Real Life” is an up and coming boy band with five members: 20 year old Chance Perez, 20 year old Drew Ramos, 18 year old Michael Conor, 17 year old Sergio Calderon, and 15 year old Brady Tutton. These five members were picked through a new show called “Boy Band.” This show was judged by the Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter, the Spice Girls’ Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Timbaland, and Rita Ora. Out of thirty-two other contestants, Chance, Brady, Sergio, Michael, and Drew were the final five. All five of these boys come from different backgrounds, and all of them want to be a part of something bigger than themselves.
Chance Perez came onto the show as a 19 year old dad with three year old daughter Brooklyn Perez and was previously a member of the Boyband Project—his old band that gained over 70,000 subscribers on Youtube. Chance was deeply influenced by his father who died when he was eight years old, and since then Chance has been in love with music. He also has certified EMT training to become a firefighter.
Michael Conor is one of very few rappers in boy bands and has been playing the violin among other instruments for a little more than 10 years. Conor raps while playing the violin and creates his own twist with his music, which can be found on Soundcloud, and before he went onto the show he sang very little, but by the end he reached the vocal level of his fellow bandmates. At first when he began to rap, his parents weren’t on board with the idea of him rapping, but when he began to tell them why he wanted to, they supported him all of the way. Fun fact! He can also solve a Rubik’s cube in under a minute!
When Sergio Calderon first auditioned for Boy Band, he was the first and only contestant to sing in two languages: Spanish and English. Sergio put his own take on his music by singing in two different languages without faltering on a single note. Before he came onto the show, Calderon was going to play soccer in college on a scholarship, but instead he quit soccer in order to pursue his music career.
Drew Ramos grew up in the Bronx, New York, with his single mother, and he came onto the show so that he could move his mom out of their current neighborhood.
Last, but not least, the youngest member of In Real Life is 15 year old classically-trained opera singer Brady Tutton from Shorewood, Wisconsin. Before auditioning for the show, Brady played the role of Brock on the TV show Fresh Off the Boat. He was also in the movie LOL with Miley Cyrus and played Young Liam in the 2016 thriller Sleep, Wake, Forget. He is in Doc Mcstuffins and will be playing Joshua Davis in the 2018 film The Rocket. Growing up, Brady had a severe stutter, but he never stuttered when he sang and hasn’t stopped since.
Now that the show has ended, this band of five has signed with Hollywood Records and has been touring across the country performing, meeting fans, and doing what they love most. Since their debut off the show, they have three songs: “Eyes Closed,” “ Feel This Christmas,” and “I’ll Be Home For Christmas.” Their first single, “Eyes Closed,” was written by Justin Tranter, Brandon Skeie, Jussi Karvinen, and Wes Period. Since they were formed, they’ve only been on the rise and are still going up, but the question is, what do they have in store for us next?
