- Don’t be afraid to ask for help!
One of the best things at Catalina is the supportive and encouraging community of teachers, students, and staff! Even if you’re nervous or scared, know that for the most part, everyone there wants to see you succeed, so ASK FOR HELP!
- Don’t focus too much on grades.
I know it may be hard to accept, but you’re going to get a bad grade at least once, so don’t freak out about it too much! Ask or talk to a teacher and know that you can and will do better!
I know that it’s scary to ask teachers for things but if it helps, ask more questions in class instead! Or do both!
- Talk to new people!
Everyone is really nice, so don’t be shy and talk to someone! I know it can be awkward, but who cares?
- Work Ahead!!
If you are a major procrastinator, like me, try your best to work ahead of assigned homework. Teachers usually give out homework by the week or ahead of time so use that to your advantage!
I find that doing homework on Friday night and Saturday helps a lot because then I can have everything ready for the week, and I can relax for the remainder of my time. Since I finish my homework for the week on Saturday, I don’t have to completely hate Mondays!
- Try new things!
Don’t be scared to sign up for new activities at Club Fair! I know it can be intimidating but trust me, you will end up meeting some of your best friends through these clubs!
- It’s OK not to be OK.
There are good days, and there are bad days. Know that they all will pass (and very quickly) so savor the good days and embrace the bad ones. Everyone goes through hardships. And always know that every emotion you feel is valid!
P.S. You are loved!
