Universal Studios Beijing, located in the city’s southeast downtown area, will be the fifth Universal Studios theme park in the world and the third in Asia. The park, to be opened this May, will be divided into multiple themed regions: a Hollywood Boulevard, Minion Land, Waterworld, Jurassic World Isla Nublar, and Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness, in addition to areas inspired by Transformers: Metrobase and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. All these whimsical spots will bring popular cinematic stories and characters to life with rides, entertainment shows, specialty shops, and restaurants. The park will be the first with a Waterworld-themed region.
At Hollywood Boulevard, guests can experience the Lights! Camera! Action! special effects show hosted by Steven Spielberg via video projection. Minion Land features the popular computer-animated ride, Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem. Waterworld is home to Waterworld: A Live Sea War Spectacular, a stunt show featuring water tricks, while Jurassic World Isla Nublar transports guests to an island where dinosaurs still roam. At the Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness, attractions will honor Chinese culture and heritage. The Transformers: Metrobase area will feature the stomach-churning Decepticoaster roller coaster. Lastly, at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter area, guests can drink Butterbeer (the iconic cream-soda drink) and visit Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, a computer-animated ride situated in a life-sized Hogwarts Castle.
If you’re a big fan of Universal Studios and want to learn more about Chinese culture and heritage, consider visiting Universal Studios Beijing after the pandemic! For more information, watch the park’s promotional video here.
