Santa Catalina has many extracurricular activities, such as ballet dance classes or basketball teams. However, with the continuation of distance learning, extracurriculars have been forced to adapt to the online world.
Thanks to Zoom, Catalina students can now participate in co-curricular activities from their homes. Have you ever dreamed of working on Broadway either on stage or behind the scenes? Theater Performance and Theater Tech classes are there for you. Performance meets on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:40 to 5:15 pm, and Tech meets from 3:40 to 4:25 pm on those same days. Since live shows are currently not a possibility this semester, the two theater classes will be working to put on a radio performance for the whole school to enjoy.
Want to sharpen your athletic skills? One of the five athletic classes is perfect for you. You could try Court Sports, which is designed to help athletes train for sports like volleyball or basketball; Field Sports, which prepares athletes for sports such as soccer; or Swimming Sports, which provides training for swimming and water polo. Students may also try the Cardio or Fitness Classes, both of which focus on running and fitness strength. All of these classes meet Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:40 to 4:25 pm.
Is dance your passion? Join one of the many dance classes. A block classes from 3:40 to 4:25pm include Ballet on Mondays, Jazz on Tuesdays, and Contemporary on Thursdays. B block classes from 4:30 to 5:15pm include Strength and Flexibility on Mondays and Thursdays, and Yoga on Tuesdays. All the dance classes are recorded, so even if you signed up for a different class, you can still grab your dance shoes and join in afterwards.
With the new era of online school, both academic classes and extracurricular activities have changed. Luckily for students at Santa Catalina, there is something for everyone to enjoy!
